EstMIA is the Estonian member society of the European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI), and every EstMIA member is welcome to take part in EFMI’s international working groups.
What a working group does
A working group gathers researchers, clinicians, developers and policy specialists from across Europe around a single theme. Each group is led by a chair and a co-chair, and meets online through the year and in person at EFMI conferences.
Typical activities:
- organising workshops, tutorials and scientific sessions at EFMI conferences — Medical Informatics Europe (MIE) and the Special Topic Conference (STC)
- preparing joint publications, position papers and methodological guidance
- contributing to European research and innovation projects
- maintaining a European expert network in a specific field
Alongside the established working groups, EFMI also runs project groups. A project group is set up for three years; if the concept proves successful, it can become a full working group.
How to join?
1. Choose a group
- Read the descriptions on the EFMI site and find the one closest to your own work.
2. Register
- Fill in the form at the bottom of the EFMI working groups page — your name, e-mail and the group you wish to join. You can also write directly to the group’s chair; the contacts are on each group’s own page.
3. Tell us
- Send a note to info@estmia.ee, so that we know where Estonia is represented and can put you in touch with other EstMIA members in the same group.
